How to save on airport parking in Canada

Most of the savings come from three choices: booking ahead instead of driving up, picking the right lot for your trip length, and reading what the rate leaves out. Below, each tip uses real published rates, checked October 24, 2026, from the airport and lot pages linked on our YEG, YYC and YVR pages.

1. Book online, not at the gate

Airports and lots publish lower rates for reservations.

Watch the booking window: YEG and jetSet Edmonton ask you to book at least 24 hours ahead, while YYC takes reservations up to 30 minutes before you enter the gate (yyc.com).

2. Let the weekly rate work for you

Weekly rates are often priced at five days, so days six and seven are free.

If your trip is five or six days, check whether the weekly price is the same as or lower than paying daily.

3. Match the lot to your trip length

The cheapest lot for a weekend isn't always the cheapest for a month. At Calgary, using published rates (our calc. for the YYC totals):

Trip YYC Economy lot Cheapest off-airport rate we found
7 days $80.00 $69.52 (Park & Jet, prepaid)
30 days $448.00 $167.99 (Park2Go Extended Stay Special)

For one week the difference is about $10. For a month it's about $280. Details: cheapest long-term parking at YYC.

4. Price at least one off-airport lot

Off-airport lots near Edmonton publish self-park rates well under the airport's own:

Edmonton option (7 days) Published price
Park2Go Edmonton, Self Park promo $55.99
jetSet selfPark, regular online rate $70.00
YEG Value Park, online $80.00
YEG Parkade, online $165.00

Off-airport means a shuttle ride (jetSet lists 3–10 minutes; Park & Jet in Calgary lists 4–6), so leave a little extra time.

5. Check memberships and discounts

6. Read what the rate leaves out

7. Picking someone up? Use the free minutes

YYC also has a cellphone waiting lot (see yyc.com/park).
